In the vicinity of Marzabotto one can find the historical nature park of Monte Sole, with numerous trails that allow you to admire nature and the scenery of the Reno valley. One particularity of the hills of Bologna are the ravines ("calanchi"), the emergence of dry clayey soil worn away by atmospheric agents that tore apart the normal landscape and sometimes give it a lunar nature.
Those who want to totally relax can visit the Thermal Baths of Porretta, already known during the Roman times and place of cure for celebrities like Lorenzo "il Magnifico" de'Medici or Louis Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon. The characteristic buildings of the XVIII and XIX centuries help to create a relaxing atmosphere.

East of Bologna one can find the "Parco dei Gessi e dei Calanchi dell'Abbadessa", that present, beside vast surfacing of ravines, a view of a chalky strand that runs visibly within the hills for many kilometers.

Here one can also find numerous trails but the entire hill offers panoramic routes along any street. For thermal bath lovers, Riolo Terme offers characteristic lodges and thermal establishments of the end of the 19th century beside the charming village dominated by the Renaissance castle.
